Get excited, it’s nearly here!
The Camden Fringe starts next Monday 30th July with 300 shows ranging from Theatre, Comedy and Dance across 23 venues in the Camden, London area.
I have never attended and missed it last year as I was busy at the Edinburgh Fringe, but this year I want to support some shows closer to home. (Yes, I’m a Londoner! 😉 )
As a feminist myself, I am very pleased to hear that there is a lot of female content programmed into this festival, with female issues dominating the news agenda this year, including the #MeToo campaign, the Irish Abortion referendum and alongside the anniversary of the Suffragette’s movement it couldn’t be more fitting.
Michelle Flower, Co-Founder of Camden Fringe says,
“The fringe was founded by 2 women, so we have always made sure to have a good gender balance in the festival. We are proud to have a festival showcasing strong female talent”
Theatre this year also sees a vast programme of new work, including Loquitor Theatre’s feminist
trilogy show Fémage à Trois, long-time participants Fourth Monkey’s Scandal! Season and
performer Rachel Salisbury on that Facebook call-out for a boyfriend – which accidentally went
I’m happy to hear that there will also be some dance productions involved in the festival too, as well as music, this is alongside the big comedians that regularly appear. This year comedians include, Rhys James, Marlon Davis and Lloyd Griffith.
There are so many shows, so check out the Camden Fringe website to see the programme and book your favourite shows before they sell out!
Happy 13th Birthday Camden Fringe! You are now a teenager – Whoop whoop!
